Neil Cleveland

Neil Cleveland

SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND GENERAL MANAGER

Neil Cleveland is Senior Vice President and General Manager of PBI-Gordon Corporation, a subsidiary of PBI-Gordon Companies, Inc. Neil joined PBI-Gordon in 2018 following his retirement from the Bayer Corporation.
Neil spent 25 years with Bayer in various senior and executive management roles.

Most recently, he served as director of commercial operations for the northern sales region for Bayer CropScience. In that role, he led the sales team and was responsible for development and implementation of the marketing strategy. He was also a major contributor to the organization’s US-based commercial operations leadership team. Neil initially joined Bayer in 1993 as a senior sales representative focused on turf, ornamental and pest control products. Neil also has a strong connection and experience with the commercial lawn care industry. He launched his career with ChemLawn Services, spending 12 years with the company in increasing leadership roles.

Neil is a graduate of Delaware Valley College of Science & Agriculture with a bachelor degree of science degree in agronomy. He currently serves on the board of directors of RISE (Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment).

Eric Bur

Senior Director of Finance

Eric Bur is Senior Director of Finance for PBI-Gordon Corporation. Eric joined PBI-Gordon in 2019 and is responsible for providing financial leadership and insight to business partners across all PBI-Gordon companies. He is also responsible for treasury, customer billing and other operational finance functions.
 
Eric brings more than 35 years of financial experience. Prior to joining PBI-Gordon, he served as CFO for five high-growth technology companies, including Perceptive Software, NIC Inc. and Xact Data Discovery. In these roles, Eric helped drive significant shareholder value through adoption of innovative financial practices, securing financing and providing strategic leadership. Previously, Eric served as SVP/Finance at American Century Investments. He began his career in public accounting, spending 11 years with EY and KPMG.
 
Eric and his wife Amanda live in Mission Hills, Kansas. Their five children are in various stages of college. When not working, Eric enjoys following college sports, running and playing golf. Eric has a bachelor of science degree in business and account from the University of Kansas. He currently serves on their Accounting Advisory Board and is advisor to several technology companies within the Kansas City area.
Tim Demerath

Tim Demerath

Vice President of Sales

Tim Demerath is Vice President of Sales for PBI-Gordon Corporation. Tim is responsible for Company’s strategic sales efforts including in the professional turf & ornamental market, consumer lawn, garden, farm & ranch markets, hardware channels, commercial concentrates business, and our order to ship team.
 
Tim has deep industry knowledge and a proven track record of sales success. He was most recently sales manager for the Western Iowa district of Bayer CropScience, where he led a team of 10 sales representatives and posted significant market share increases. Prior to that, Tim held other sales, marketing, and commercial operations positions at Bayer.
 
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Project Evergreen, a national non-profit organization dedicated to creating healthy green spaces. Through GreenCare for Community initiatives, Project Evergreen revitalizes parks and public green spaces. Its GreenCare for Troops program mobilizes lawn and landscape services for military families.
 
Originally from Nebraska, Tim holds a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where he also played on the school’s 2001 Rose Bowl team and earned Big 12 academic honors.
 
Tim and his wife, Jennifer, live in Overland Park, Kansas with their son, Liam. When he’s not leading PBI-Gordon sales initiatives, he’s often in Nebraska, helping out on his family’s dairy farm.
 

Jason Manz

Jason Manz

Director of National Accounts

Jason Manz is Director of National Accounts for PBI-Gordon Corporation. Manz joined PBI-Gordon in February 2020 and leads the key account sales team’s efforts as it develops and executes customer business plans for the Company’s national accounts.

Manz has more than 20 years of experience in the professional turf and agriculture industries, most recently as seed treatment global product manager for BASF. He also had a lengthy career with Bayer CropScience, where he developed strong customer relationships in sales and product management leadership positions.

Manz holds a bachelor of science degree in Agricultural Studies from Iowa State University and an MBA from Concordia University in St. Paul, Minn. He leads the PBI-Gordon Corporation national accounts sales team from the home he shares with his wife and young son in Apex, N.C.
 

Jeff Marvin, Ph.D

Jeff Marvin, Ph.D

Senior Director of Research & Development

Dr. Jeff Marvin is Senior Director of Research & Development for PBI-Gordon Corporation and leads our field research team in the development of next generation products that support innovation in the turfgrass and ornamental industry. Jeff and the R&D team partner with more than 30 colleges and universities on strategic research projects.

Jeff began he career as a golf course superintendent at Orange Lake Resort in Kissimmee, Fla. After seven years managing the 54-hole property, he headed back to academia. He earned his bachelor’s degree in turfgrass science at Pennsylvania State University and worked as a research assistant while he earned his Ph.D. in plant and environmental science at Clemson University.

Jeff and his wife, Stacy, live in Overland Park, Kansas with their children Camryn and Easton. They also have a dog, two cats and two lizards. Jeff loves spending time outdoors and is often out hunting, fishing, camping or playing a round of golf.

Eric Smith

Senior Director of Regulatory, Formulations and GLP

Eric Smith is Senior Director of Regulatory, Formulations and GLP for PBI-Gordon Corporation. He joined PBI-Gordon in 2014, as Manager of Regulatory Affairs. He was promoted to Director of Regulatory Affairs in 2017 and became Senior Director in 2021.

Eric previously was Manager of Regulatory and Government Affairs for United Industries Corporation. He led the organization in developing regulatory strategies for all products from concept to launch. Eric also has experience in the pharmaceutical industry; he was a Team Leader for a PCR Laboratory specializing in genetic research.

Eric has dual bachelor’s degrees in biology and psychology from Millikin University.

Gary Wolf

Vice President

Gary Wolf joined PBI-Gordon Corporation as Senior Director of Operations in June 2020 and was promoted to Vice President in April 2022. Before joining PBI-Gordon, he served as Director of Active Ingredient Operations at Bayer for six years. In that role, Gary was responsible for the chemical manufacturing of active ingredients for herbicides, fungicides, and intermediates. He also had oversight of four plants and operations, and has a strong record of improving safety, enhancing efficiency, and reducing operating expenses.

Previously, Gary was a production manager with Exide Technologies, an original equipment and aftermarket battery manufacturer for the automotive industry. He implemented Six Sigma production processes that improved efficiencies and led two departments through a time of robust hiring and growth. Before joining Exide, Gary spent more than a decade with Compass Minerals in various leadership roles, including plant manager and operations manager where he set all-time records in safety, quality, and production key performance indicators. He also improved customer satisfaction through regular communication with the sales team, and a reduction of 80% of product availability complaints.

Gary earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Alabama and his MBA from Wake Forest University. He’s also a former officer in the U.S. Army Reserves. Gary and his wife of 28 years live in Lee’s Summit, MO. They have three sons, with the youngest in college at Mizzou. An avid runner, last year he completed his first 50k run in just under six hours.
